Judi L. Calhoun

Judi L. Calhoun, Circuit Court No. 1 (Effective 1/1/2023)

Biography:

Judi L. Calhoun was elected to Delaware Circuit Court #1 in November 2022.  Judge Calhoun is an east central Indiana native where she grew up on a farm.  Judge Calhoun completed her undergraduate degree in Political Science at Purdue University in May 1991 and is a graduate of the Claude W. Pettit College of Law in December 1993.

Judge Calhoun was previously in private practice and an attorney with the Indiana Department of Child Services prior to being elected to the bench.  Judge Calhoun served as a Delaware County Prosecutor for 18 years and was Delaware County’s first female Chief Deputy Prosecutor.  Judge Calhoun is active in the Muncie Bar Association, Indiana Bar Association, and Special Olympics.

Fun Fact – Judge Calhoun was once featured in an article in the National Enquirer.  She was also a 10 year 4-H member in Randolph County.

Biography:

Kimberly Dowling was elected to Circuit Court No. 2 in November 2012. Judge Dowling completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Denver in 1981. She graduated from the University of Colorado Law School in 1984. She currently lives in Daleville, Ind. Judge Dowling served as Master Commissioner in Superior Court 3 from 1996 to 1998. She was also Commissioner for Title IV-D Court from 1998 to 2000.

Biography:

Doug Mawhorr was appointed to the Circuit Court 3 bench upon the retirement of Judge Linda Wolf and assumed the bench on September 1, 2023.  Judge Mawhorr grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from Wabash College (B.A. 1988).  He is a graduate of the Indiana University, Maurer School of Law – Indianapolis (J.D. 1997).

Judge Mawhorr started his legal career before he attended law school.  He worked for Baker & Hostetler (Washington, D.C.) and Maumee Valley Legal Services, Inc. (Ft. Wayne, IN) as a paralegal.  After graduating law school, Judge Mawhorr worked in private practice.  He began his work as an attorney in Franklin, IN at Jones & Hoffman.  He then moved his practice to Muncie in April of 1998.  He continued his legal practice at Brooke & Cloyd, PC as an associate.  He worked his way to shareholder partner in Brooke Mawhorr, PC.  Judge Mawhorr spent 12 years practicing civil law and criminal defense law before he closed his private practice and joined the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office.  He was the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Circuit Court 5 from January 2014 until he took the bench in Circuit Court 3.

Biography:

John M. Feick was elected to Circuit Court No. 4 in November 2002. A Muncie native, Feick completed his undergraduate degree at Wabash College in 1973 and his law degree from Indiana University – Indianapolis in 1978. Prior to becoming the judge for Circuit Court No. 4 Feick was in private practice for 24 years and was a public defender from 1981 to 2002. He was also the Delaware County attorney from 1996 to 2000.

Biography:

Thomas Cannon Jr. was elected to Delaware County Circuit Court No. 5 in 2009.

 A Muncie native, Judge Cannon graduated from Indiana University (B.A. 1970) and is a graduate of Indiana University McKinney School of Law (J.D. 1973).

Judge Cannon was a former Delaware County Council attorney from 1976 to 1982 and from 1987 to 1990, as well as a former deputy public defender from 2001 to 2005. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1970-81. Judge Cannon was a partner at Cannon and Bruns from 1974 to 2009. He also served as appointed juvenile court referee from 1978 to 2000.

Fun Fact: In the 1960’s, I played keyboards in a rock and roll band called “The Fables” managed by “BCJ Productions”. Also, my struggles with the game of golf are chronicled as a caricature, “The Judge”, in a cartoon strip, “The Sandbagger”, drawn by and posted on the Facebook page of a golfing buddy of mine.

Timothy Hollems, Master Commissioner

Biography:

Timothy Hollems was appointed Master Commissioner in February, 2016. He is a graduate of Beloit College (B.A. 1987) and of the University of Wisconsin Law School (J.D. 1997). He also graduated from the Indiana Judicial College in 2021. Prior to his appointment, Master Commissioner Hollems served as attorney for the Indiana Department of Child Services for over ten years. Born and raised in Columbia City, Indiana, Master Commissioner Hollems has called Delaware County home since 2003.

Fun Fact: Master Commissioner Hollems’s spouse and daughter are also judges. His spouse is a Level 10 accredited USA Gymnastics Judge. His daughter is currently a Level 8 Gymnastics Judge. They both judge a variety of gymnastics meets in Indiana and in surrounding states throughout the year.

Biography:

Amanda Yonally was appointed by the Delaware County Board of Judges to serve as the Juvenile Magistrate in 2015. Magistrate Yonally served as the Delaware County Master Commissioner from December 2014 until December 2015.

Born and raised in Indiana, Magistrate Yonally graduated from Ball State University (B.A. 1996) and the Indiana University McKinney School of Law (J.D. 2005). Prior to her appointment as a judicial officer, Magistrate Yonally was in private law practice in Indiana.
