Indiana is only the second state to adopt it at a state-wide initiative.

The JDAI grant in Delaware County

After adopting the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI), Delaware County courts have a few opportunities for grants.

The initiative determines if juveniles should be placed in a detention center, and grants are given by the state.

How did Judge Dowling get Interested in JDAI?

Judge Kimberly S. Dowling of Delaware County Circuit Court 2 said she got involved with the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative because she cares about children.

“Everything that I’ve been involved with as a volunteer in our community has been geared towards children,” she said.

Delaware County’s new JDAI Program

JDAI is a bipartisan effort with public, private and community partnership for juvenile justice system improvement.  The initiative focuses on the reallocation of public resources from mass incarceration toward investment in youth, families, and communities.  This reinvestment provides an opportunity for lasting improvement to public safety.
